雲の茶屋 The Cloud Teahouse

Where the mountain meets the clouds,
the water boils.

一期一会

We have been here since 1891, on the same slope, in the same mist. The teahouse has been repaired many times — after the earthquake, after bad winters — but the path up has never changed. I am Fujiwara Haruki, the fourth person in this family to boil water on this mountain, and I am glad you found us.

There is no reservation system. There are no specials, no limited-time offers, no loyalty cards. Come when you can. Climb. We will have tea ready.

Now Serving 玉露 Gyokuro Shaded Green

Grown under bamboo shade for three weeks before harvest, this single-field gyokuro from our own garden carries the dense umami of deep-forest earth and first morning light. The liquor runs dark jade, slow and thick. It asks nothing of you except patience.
